My dear Jones,
I received your mnscrpt on aural conception today.1 No doubt it will be highly interesting and good lecture2 for our readers. I want to peruse it myself before handing it over to Sachs.
Now for your wife. She is down to 2 injections of 0.3 each, let us say half a centigr. daily, practically nothing, less than 1/120 part of the original dosis. Yet the most interesting part of the treatment is to come before you arrive her[e]. It was no easy task for me, standing in this way between two of my friends—my only consolation is, that both of them will be happier and healthier hereafter, but if they will be together does not depend upon my will, as you know the laws of treatment. Yet like you I hope; in any case I expect a nice and favourable issue of the case between you.
I am not at all contented, that you bear Jungs insolence without remonstrating. If you do so I can assist you as editor and assure to your contributions the same treatment which others find. So you must not give up your intention of holding your grip on the Jahrbuch.3
The poem you enclose is amusing enough, happily I know enough Spanish to understand it. Heine once expressed the same idea but in a far more poetical, sublimated, shape.
I am now slowly composing the 4th of the Übereinstimmungen [accords], that on Totemism, which is to close the series.4 It is the most daring enterprise I ever ventured. On Religion, Society, Ethics and quibusdam aliis.5 Gold help me!
I am looking for impatiently for that end of May, perhaps the work will be finished when you come here to strengthen the old ties.
Yours most cordially
Freud
