Dear Professor Freud,
Well, Loe definitely left London last night, and will reach Vienna, via Holland, on Monday night or possibly Tuesday. The parting was naturally an affective experience for both of us, but I do not doubt that we shall get over it, and then also it is not absolute, for we shall remain to some extent in touch (so far as that is possible with Loe's writing habits). I am very concerned about her future, which does not seem to me to be at all soundly based internally, and am anxious to hear about her relations to yourself. She will call on you, and no doubt reproach you, but if you were to meet her halfway I think she would give in and be manageable.
Our member who goes to Jung is a woman, Constance Long, a virgin of 40, hence in any case not too hopeful. The only Englishman I have hopes of enlisting on our1 side is Bryan of Leicester; you will hear more of him. Last week I met Stanley Bligh,2 who visited you last year in Vienna. I judge him to be a bright, active and interesting man, but uncritical through having an untrained and undisciplined mind. He is enthusiastic and is a man of considerable wealth and influence, so he may be useful some time. What was your impression of him?
The next point in your letter is your very kind offer about the photograph; for which I very cordially thank you. It will be an event to look forward to with the keenest pleasure.
I answered Sach's letter about the Madonna Albeit, thanking him and you for the motives whereby it is transferred to the Jahrbuch. It is of course indifferent to me whether it appears there or Imago, except for one matter, on which I asked his opinion—namely Heller could reproduce the difficult photograph that accompanies the essay better than Deuticke, having a larger page, better paper, and more skilled workmen. This would not weigh against other considerations, but still is to be thought of. Do we edit the second half of Band V, or is this published from
