Dear Jones,
In exchange for your Putnam letter I send you another which seems rather good. His agreement about Jung will appear a strong decision if you remember my terms “brutal, insincere, sometimes dishonest”. Even in theory he is making more concessions than we could expect, although to be sure the repressed is coming back by a “Hinterthür” [back door]. Please return his letter for answerings sake. I regret the loss of his child but it is not the beloved one, the Griselda.1
Loe is rather progressing if I am not mistaken. You will have got Jungs circular on the Congress. Pray do not answer before having communicated with Berlin, Bpest and Vienna. We want to measure our forces with Zürich and act in common. Now what is the way you propose and may bring forward in your group. Will you stick to the decision of the Congress, vote for Schandau2 and come there with as much members as possible? Or propose something which excludes the Congress and practically puts an end to the meetings? Please consider and give reply to Rank or Sachs, who have put the same question to Ferenczi and Abraham.
Thanks for the interesting passage from Boas. I am working on the Geschichte der ψα Bewegung3 which I try to render as indiscreet and amusing as possible.
Yours truly
Freud
