Dear Professor,
I will write the obituary if you wish, but you will do it so much better that I would rather you did it. I have an excellent photograph (have you a copy?), and wonder if it would be better to publish a short note now, and a fuller notice later with photograph, list of ψα writings (not now available without writing to America), etc.? At present what I can find is this: Born 1846. Died aged 72 on Nov. 4/1918 of Morbus cordis [heart failure] in his sleep, well and at work the day before. Teacher of Neurology in Harvard Medical School 1872. Professor of Neurology Harvard University 1893-1912. Neurologist to Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, 1874-1909. Good old New England Puritan family. I have a list of 100 works up to 1905 (mostly on peripheral neuritis). His first article on ψα was 1906,1 open-minded but sceptical, and I think his real interest in it in a positive sense dated from meeting me, Dec. 1908—when he was 62!2
