Dear Professor,
It is a great joy to get a letter from you within a week, and probably even this time will soon be reduced. We shall not be allowed to go to Austria until peace with her is signed and ratified, and other formalities attended to, and I am beginning to doubt whether that will be in time to enable me to visit you at Gastein, for I understand that you will only be there for four weeks. In any case I will come as soon as travelling is allowed, and if necessary come to Vienna. But Gastein sounds specially attractive.
Dr. F[orsyth] will also come as soon as he can. He told me that you were going to analyse him, which naturally aroused my jealousy, though do not fear that I shall not be able to control this. It may interest you to hear a little about him. He is about 42, very gentlemanly, with a fine and well-balanced mind; not brilliant, but with some originality. He has worked at Ps-A for some five years or so, has not read much of it, but has had a considerable personal experience. He would, I think, count next to me as leader in England, chiefly because of his good personality and the prestige of his position (he is physician to a medical school, equivalent to Professor in Germany and is a children's specialist; he is no neurologist or psychiatrist, but has had great experience of children and has made excellent observations on them from the psychological point of view).
Please congratulate [Prof.]1 Ferenczi from me if you can write to him; it was splendid news. And tell him that his book (which had some sale in Japan!) is calling for a second edition.2 I am thinking of translating his articles of the past five years and taking over the enlarged edition as a member of our monograph series.3 We are hard at work on plans for this series and the Journal, of which you will hear more presently, for the scheme to be adopted depends on the success of an appeal for funds now being made.
Do you think Sachs ought to return to Aus
