8 July 1919
Vienna, IX. Berggasse 19
Dear Jones,
I reckon to be at Bad Gastein, Villa Wassing, on the 15th of this month for a stay of 3 or 4 weeks. We are taking pains to get the permission to pass over the austrian frontier for Ferenczi, his wife and perhaps Dr. Freund too, [for Gastein too]1 if his condition of health agrees with the trip. Ferenczi is engaged by his university lecturing (he is the first o.ö. Prof. for ψα) until August first. Now choose your time. I will be extremely glad to see you. My sister-in-law is with me, going there for her own sake on her physician's command. Suffering as she is she will lead a sedentary life there and we will be free to talk and walk.
Times have not improved since I wrote you last, it may be our last summer as far as I can see. My wife will spend her time at the Sanator. Parsch near Salzburg, my daughter goes to a place not far from Reichenhall (Bavaria), in company of a lady-friend. Afterwards we intend to meet all of us on a small lake between Munich and Garmisch. Parsimony is no[t]2 part of our programm this year, it would not help us.
With kindest regards
yours truly
Freud
