Vienna, IX. Berggasse 19
Dear Jones,
I am answering to your letter of the 11th, which I got from Rank yesterday.
I cannot decide at the moment whether I can take Mrs. Eder, as I am expecting an answer from Dr. Sarasin (Rheinau),1 who applied long ago and then fixed his arrival at the first of April. As soon as I know I will answer by wire, agreeing to one guinea. I am not sure that her case may be worth my time or her money, being aware of Eder's impotence etc.. It is a good occasion to remind you that Rank is as excellent as analyst as in mythology, he could take such patients whom I must decline, even English ones. He is working now with two Englishmen, one from Australia, the other from Africa and succeeds quite well. I agreed with him that he should lead on two analyses daily, not more, to keep up his touch with the source of our knowledge.
I am ‘pretty full now’ and busy in rectifying the booklet on Mass-Psychology which you know.2 Your member who wants to come in autumn ought to write me, he will be accepted.
I enclose a dream-analysis sent by Daly from Port Said on his way to India. It is concerned with numbers and rather a good specimen. Will you accept it for the Journal?3

It is puzzling, how little “Gemeinsinn” [community spirit] and tendency for organisation there is to be found among the better elements in America, only the robbers and pirates hunt in gangs. Brill is behaving shamefully and has to be dropped.
There are two questions in your letter of Febr. 23d which I have not answered not remembering what they are about. (Staircase verses, Farnell's paper). I think I said to Rank your authors should not indulge in mysterious hinting, that the solutions, the meaning, is evident, but should condescend to write down what these inter
