19 May 1921
Vienna, IX. Berggasse 19
Dear Jones,
I am glad you feel allright again. It was an unpleasant thought.
Had I waited one day more, my last letter of the 10th1 would have shown another face. So I have to thank you too for your kind wishes. The 6th of May is the day. The bust looks rather stern and imposing, it is much admired by people who understand.
Nothing more about the Farnell paper, as you did so intentionally. As for American translators I thought of engaging some of the analysts who have announced themselves in autumn (Oberndorf, Blumgart, Kardiner, Polon), all of them Germans that is to say Jews; in every case no translation can be printed unless approved by you. The same holds good for Strachey who now is doing the Massenpsych and the Wolf-man, his wife the Dora and the Rat-man. I expect the Massenpsych will come out in June. Of the “Jenseits” I prepared the 2d edition, adding some sentences and a longer passage on the Platonic Theory of Sex sent to me by H. Gomperz (the son of the old famous Th. G.).2 The new proofs will be forwarded to you shortly.
