Dear Professor,

This is only a note to announce the receipt of 275 florins in Holland. It is nearly mid-night and I have still to start preparing an important address I have to deliver to-morrow evening, so I must postpone writing to you for a more favourable opportunity. Perhaps in the meantime I may get a letter from you.

With kindest regards—I hope your birthday was a pleasant one,

yours affectionately

Ernest Jones.
