The Plat, Elsted
Dear Professor,
I have just received today a letter from a Mr. Sprott1 telling me, to my surprise, that he arranged with you last July to lecture at Cambridge next autumn and asking me if I could arrange some public lectures for you to give in London. It would be wonderful to know that you were lecturing in England, but I must first inquire of you about the authenticity of the man, for perhaps he is nothing but a lecture agent. I know nothing about him. I should be glad to get your views on the matter. There would of course be plenty of people in London who would like to hear you, but I do not know if you would care to give a series of lectures merely arranged from within, without any University invitation.
