26 February 1924
Vienna, IX. Berggasse 19
Dear Jones,
The committee meeting before the Congress is of course generally desired, and it goes without saying that it is to take place in Salzburg in order to save you the trip to Vienna. Abraham and Sachs are perhaps thinking of traveling to Salzburg via Vienna, and therefore the discussions will already have an earlier start. I hope that all participants will bring their most amicable intentions with them.
Your news about the Press did not of course surprise me. But I am not giving up hope that you will be able to salvage the essential aspects of the undertaking in the manner indicated, and for the time being I will therefore not make any different arrangements for the American rights.
I have absolutely no intentions of changing the Traumdeutung. From time to time I write little essays which you will find in the Zeitschrift. For the umpteenth time I composed a short history of psychoanalysis for an American collection History of Our Own Times, published by the American office of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. The translation they sent me was so horribly bad that via cable I stopped it from being printed.
I continue to work without interruption, am still in treatment for improvement of my speech.
With cordial greetings for you and your wife
Yours
Freud
