International Journal of Psycho-Analysis
1 December 1924
London
Dear Professor,
In a Rundbrief from Berlin this morning there is mention of one from you. I do not know if a copy was sent to me, but I had not received one.
Several Americans have spoken and written to me of the disadvantage to the “Journal” in America of Frink's name remaining on it and today I got an official request from Brill and Oberndorf that his name should be removed. They say he is still in hospital and “will probably remain there indefinitely”. They also speak of some scandal approaching when his wife's divorce case comes on. I think they are quite right and therefore am asking you for permission to act in that sense. Would you be good enough at the same time also to let me know whether Rank's name remains on the cover of the “Zeitschrift” and, if so, in what form?—for we ought to bring the “Journal” as much into line as possible with the “Zeitschrift” in such matters.1
With kindest regards,
Yours cordially,
Ernest Jones.
Rank's name was removed from the title page of both journals.
