Dear Jones,
I endorse your suggestion of both footnotes for the Teufelsneurose. I would only ask you to add to the sentence: “The author expressly desires…”1 my regret that this was omitted from the German text. The footnotes themselves could well be more detailed.
I am feeling fairly well, and I am still looking for improved function of the prosthesis which my doctor is busy modifying continuously. Whether I attend the Congress depends on various circumstances, which at present are still indeterminate. In principle I would like to come. But listening to lectures for hours on end is no longer in my power. However, I will do my utmost to see that my daughter does not miss this Congress.
Anticipating the Rundbrief, I notice that I am indeed the agency that decides on the arrangement of the title page of the Zeitschrift. The names mentioned there are those of the Obmanner of the individual groups.
In the matter of Miss Newton2 you misunderstood one point. It is not correct that transferring members automatically become members of the other group. They only enjoy full rights there, but make payment to their group, and must effect a formal transfer in order to belong to the new group.
Cordial greetings.
Yours,
Freud
