Vienna, IX. Berggasse 19
Dear Jones,
For once this is good news in dismal times. I have always said that America is useful for nothing but giving money. Now it has at least fulfilled this function. Of course, not for me or my purposes, but I am happy that it happened for London, and I am convinced that once you have initiated something, it will not founder. My best wishes for the thriving of your institute!
No news of Abraham today. The last sounded reassuring. As we saw with Mrs. Strachey, lung abscesses offer hope, even when the case seems very severe. If he only has the strength to survive the operation that will be necessary later. His heart is said to be undaunted.
