Dear Professor,
I have ordered the Russell book and will bring it with me if it has appeared before I leave.1 Eitingon and I will come to Semmering on Sunday,
Sept. 4, (Hotel Südbahn) and are greatly looking forward to the pleasure of seeing you.
The Americans threaten a secession from the Association, but I hope we shall be able to manage them at the Congress.
Yours affectionately
Ernest Jones.
Probably Bertrand Russell, Why I Am Not a Christian (London: Watts, 1927). It is interesting to note here that in the following year Jones would bring out his psychoanalytic study of Christianity (Jones, 1928c). Freud's copy of this book, a gift from Jones, contains the inscription: “To Professor Freud with respects of a fellow infidel Ernest Jones” (Freud Museum, London).
