Dear Jones,
The splendid news that you and your wife are expecting in May deserves, without delay, warm congratulations from us all. If it is to be the last—the last are not exactly the least, as you can see from my family.
It was very agreeble for me that you liked something about the new Vorlesungen without reservation. Regarding telepathy, you are taking the easy way out. It is not a question of psychological consistency. Until a few years ago I had the same thoughts as you have now. Also your argument of a delayed revision no longer holds. For instance we observed and tested again (repeated twice) the case of the gold coin. Incidentally, I make no secret of demanding further proof in order to be fully convinced.
Otherwise there is not much that is new here either. One gets older, the functions of life become more difficult, less pleasurable.
As far as I remember, that lecture of mine in Salzburg lasted a terribly long time: 11/2—21/4 hours?1 I could no longer do that today.
With particular affection.
Yours,
Freud
P.S. Enclosure.
