International Psycho-Analytical Association
22 May 1937
London
Dear Professor,
It was good to see your handwriting and even better to hear to-day from Dr. Kris, who is spending the weekend with us, that the last operation was not so bad as had been expected and that you are now in much better health. I know what May in Grinzing is like and I am sure you must be enjoying the freedom and beauty. Here, unfortunately, we have had a very cloudy May, but the flowers are always wonderful.
The Royal Medico-Psychological Association is the official Group of Psychiatrists in Great Britain, chiefly of course Asylum doctors. I have forgotten the exact name of the corresponding German Society, etwa Deutsche Psychiatrische Vereinigung.1 The honour in question is a considerable one. Actually, it must have been bestowed on you some time ago because I remember referring to it in my last Congress address.2
The question of birthday wishes is a complicated one but you must know that in all circumstances the wishes are throughout positive. Even with your restricted life we hope that you are able to extract some enjoyment from various aspects of it.
I hear you have a paper in the forthcoming Zeitschrift, and shall look forward to receiving the Fahnen.3
With kindest regards,
Yours always affectionately
Ernest Jones.
