I am at the end of my working year but also of my strength (still nine days to go). I was indisposed a good deal of last week, which is why I haven't answered your letter—a good letter full of important ideas. Today I see that my criticism was quite premature; still, I believe that such far-reaching interpretations cannot be stated so succinctly but must be accompanied by ample proof, which, I am sure, you will now add.
