1003 Seestrasse, Küsnach-Zürich, 23 December 1910
Dear Professor Freud,
I am sending this letter to Vienna in the hope that it will still catch you.
Whatever happens I shall arrive in Munich on Monday the 26th at 5.15 in the evening and go straight to the Park Hotel, where I too am staying.
Your “wild” ΨA1 was a delight.
My impressions of Adler in my last letter may have been a bit exaggerated; you may think I was judging blindly in an outburst of affect. It does seem to me, though, that he is trying to replace the libido, this veritable Proteus and πολντροποç,2 by rigid instinctual forms, and crushing the spirit and the life out of our theory. I am afraid that in the person of Adler ΨA has acquired its first really “scientific” representative.
I lectured3 at the ΨA Society on my forthcoming opus. The theologians were deeply impressed, especially Pfister. The spiritual trend in ΨA now taking shape in Zürich seems to me much more promising than the Bleuler-Adler attempts to squeeze everything into biology (biophysics).
Kindest regards, JUNG
Please leave me a note at the hotel saying when you wish to see me and how I have to conduct myself so as not to bump into Bleuler.
