9 February 1911, Vienna, IX. Berggasse 19
Dear friend,
Putnam (who has cabled an order for 400 offprints of the German translation of his paper published in the Zentralblatt1) writes to me that he is prepared to come to Europe with his wife and children to
attend our Congress in Lugano,2 if we can arrange matters so that he can sail from Genoa on 28 September.
I think we should agree and set the dates of the Congress accordingly but will wait to hear from you before answering him.
I have been quite well again since the gas tube was changed in my study,3 and glad as I would be to see you before September, I don't believe I shall have to summon you to Vienna in accordance with our agreement. I really was poisoned. My son is at home and is making attempts at walking.
The third edition of The Interpretation of Dreams is now a certainty. Are there any points you would like me to consider for the addenda?
So far the debates with Adler at the Society have been going very favourably,4 revealing the enemy's weak points.
With kind regards to you and your dear wife and all the little ones,
Yours ever, FREUD
