Dear friend,
I congratulate you on your new unit. I am returning Jones's letter herewith. I had already written to Brill some weeks ago—a touching letter in which I struck my most patriarchal note in an attempt to make him give in. I think we shall have to leave the matter for Weimar, where it will be easy for you to straighten everything out by your personal influence.
Apart from this nothing but hard work.
