Internationale Psychoanalytische Vereinigung
Küsnach-Zürich, 20 February 1913
Dear Professor Freud,
I am very sorry that Bergmann's package took you by surprise.1 I was under the impression that you had been notified in advance. As you know, we still had to pay Bergmann for the subscriptions at a reduced rate and B. insisted on sending his copies to us. I wanted to waive them on behalf of the Association, but then thought that the various local groups could do what they wanted with them.
In my last letter I said nothing about the theme for discussion2 because I wanted to consult Maeder first. He is not of the same opinion as you. And I must confess that the ideological significance of dreams seems to me an important concept to which far too little attention has been paid in the literature to date. But we are quite willing to meet your counter-proposals, and if necessary drop this theme if something better is found.
In connection with material for the Internat. Zeitschrift from our side, I have appealed to Maeder and Riklin. They are about the only productive elements apart from Pfister.
Bleuler has sent in a paper for the Jahrbuch entitled “Aversion to Sexuality.”3 It is already in type, and it is “queer.” I have also accepted a paper by Stärcke: “On New Dream Experiments.”4 A German version of the Dutch original, and hope you will approve of it. I think Stärcke has already been introduced to you.
It seems to have escaped your attention that in my last letter I asked your opinion about accepting Kronfeld's reply to Rosenstein's critique for the Jahrbuch. I don't think you will object to this demonstration of liberalism.
With best regards,
Yours sincerely, JUNG
