Vienna, July 10, 1893
Dearest friend,
Had we not agreed on full freedom of interchange, I should have to apologize to you very emphatically today. But you do not once comment on my having been remiss, the reason for which is a hypernormal writing fatigue after an awful writing campaign.
With your question, when and where this year, you anticipated mine by only a few days. Well, the holidays I ordered for myself start at the same time, the middle of August or a little earlier. So our seeing each other presents no difficulties. Where will depend on your choice. I can come for a few days to where you are if it is not an out-of-the-way or too-distant place. Our Tyrol, Brenner, Suldental, Toblach, and the like seem to me to offer a sufficient choice of beautiful, high-altitude places to stay. Three days in Reichenau, though, would be even nicer and would also offer something to Martha, who to my pleasure is very enthusiastic about Ida — something that happens rarely in view of her extremely reserved nature. The brief time of the vacation I shall in any case spend in Reichenau with my brood, which gives me the greatest fun.
