Obertressen, August 17, 1896
Dearest Wilhelm,
Excellent! The time suits me in every respect. So there remains only the location. Moreover, between here and Brühl or Vienna, I cannot think of another place where one can enjoy life more for just two days than in our lovely Salzburg, where we will also have memories to revive. Don't think that I will have too much of an advantage in getting there; I still have a four-hour train trip. For you, though, starting in Vienna, it will be six hours, which seems to me to speak against it. I would like to spare you the traveling. If you were to come to Aussee, it would be wonderful, but you would have an eight- to nine-hour journey. Linz, Graz, and Wels are very unappealing types of towns.
Result: on August 25, send me a telegram that on the 26th at such and such an hour you will proceed to such and such a place (whichever you like). And I shall follow you there. It could even be Gastein; incidentally, from August 23 to 25 I shall be in the Kapruner Valley, which leads to a railroad station at Zell am See. In short, you shall decide and select a beautiful place to your liking or an agreeable town.
I very much look forward to it. Therefore, nothing further today.
Your
Sigm.
