Prof. Dr. Sigm. Freud1
Many thanks for the First Trick.2 Looking forward to the Second.
Yours, Freud
Printed visiting card.
This is - as is clear from a note by Binswanger on the back of the visiting card - thanking Binswanger for sending his dissertation ; at the same time a play on Wilhelm Busch's Max und Moritz, which Freud loved and used as comparisons and illustrations; cf. Jones (1953-7), Vol. II, p. 147 and under 16F. [Max und Moritz is a book of children's verse well-known in German-speaking countries. The English translation, Max and Moritz, A Juvenile History in Seven Tricks, by Charles T. Brooks, was published in 1871. A.J.P.]
