Prof. Dr. Freud
Dear Dr. Binswanger,
Although I am in the throes of a fit of writing (a Leonardo study1) I must break off to thank you most cordially for embellishing my Japanese corner and for sending me the book2 in which I am no doubt meant to read the marked passage. I promise to do so as soon as I am over my fit, but in the meantime am unable to fathom how you were able to persuade your uncle3 to part with the Japanese print since I myself should never have given it up; it is much too fine. Nor do I know why I have deserved such a present but I happily accept it and hope that your generosity has brought you some pleasure too.
v. T. is still carrying on, though in wretched circumstances. He will be exempted from military service.
Kind regards to you and your wife, from my family too.
Yours, Freud
Freud (1910c).
Binswanger had apparently sent Freud a Japanese woodcut and a book, but no further details can be established.
