Dear Dr. Binswanger,
Of course I have no objections and anticipate that you will have no difficulty in persuading v. T., provided only that you keep M[aeder] well enough informed.2
Kind regards, Freud
Postcard.
See above 25B. The treatment of J. v. T. was now delegated to Alphonse Maeder. The following letters between Maeder and Freud arose out of this delegation. Binswanger kept Freud's letters to Maeder together with those addressed to himself. As is clear from the case histories, Freud also wrote to the patient personally during this second period as an in-patient. For example one reads that on 22 May 1910 he was: ‘Somewhat excited today about a letter from Freud. Before the start of the analysis, the letter contained the warning that he must make a decision about the two courses open to him: man or woman, otherwise he will revert to masturbating.’
