Prof. Dr. Freud
Dear Dr. Binswanger,
You could not know why I stopped writing so abruptly. Here is the explanation: my 77-year-old mother2 came down with a severe neuritis brachialis (herpes zoster), which meant that it was impossible for me to say whether or not I would be able to visit you over Whitsun. And so I did not know what to write. Today I am able to say that there is no need for me to be detained here and that I would be most pleased to appear on your visitors’ list for Whitsun. I shall be leaving on Friday the 24th, and will be with you on Saturday. Should I come to Bellevue or would you prefer to meet somewhere else? Depending on what you decide, I shall let you know the time of my arrival.
