Dear Professor Freud,
I should like herewith to submit my application for membership of the Vienna group.1 I have chosen this group since I believe that through joining it I can most easily demonstrate my respect and admiration for you, as well as my adherence to you. I am looking forward to seeing you in Dresden.2 You are right to take my silence for an optimum signum: any danger is in fact far from my mind.
