Prof. Dr. Freud
Dear Dr. Binswanger,
Little as these times are conducive to the writing of letters, I was still very pleased to hear, after so long a silence, that you are well,1 that
it can be taken that our fears2 are now disposed of, that your wife and children are flourishing and that your interests have not deviated from analysis. - In return, I can report that we are keeping our end up, that the intervals between the publication of our journals grow longer, and that everything is ready for the re-establishment of relations when friends return after peace has been signed.
Parts 1 and 2 of my lectures have appeared;3 several things are in preparation or appearing bit by bit in the journals. Of the contributors, however, Sachs is the only one who still has free time, and he gives me energetic support.
My three sons are in the army. I am glad to say that they are doing well. Two of them are artillery officers, decorated, and in fine fettle; the third has only recently joined the sappers - up till now his presence has been deemed indispensable in the construction of a military tunnel.
For the rest, we must just wait.
Very cordially yours,
Freud
