Prof. Dr. Freud
Dear Dr. Binswanger,
Your welcome largesse was a sign of life and of your continued interest in our fate after a long interval. Thank you very much! But I would like to hear more about you, your family, your great work which has been too long in preparation,1 your attitude to analysis, etc.
My prisoner-of-war, whom I was able to provide with money thanks to you, is back home and has entered into the more comfortable bondage of a marriage for love.2 It seems to be turning out well.
I have meanwhile accmulated a sum of money in London and can pay you from there if you would be kind enough to let me know how many Swiss francs you spent at the time. Five hundred lire are no longer what they were a year ago, and there is little reason to expect the [Austrian] Krone to improve.
With kind regards and best wishes for 1920 to you and your family,
Yours, Freud
