Prof. Dr. Freud
Dear Dr. Binswanger,
Many thanks for your good wishes! I knew they were bound to come.
I am here in temporary quarters together with my wife, sister-in-law, who is unfortunately ill, my daughter Anna, my married daughter1 and her husband, and my son Martin. My son Ernst has been living here for over four years and is doing well as an architect. Despite all the difficulties of our new surroundings - every detail of life in England is different - we should be feeling quite well if the news from Vienna, and the fact that we are unable to render help to all those who need it so urgently, allowed of any such feeling of well-being. My son and son-in-law are looking for jobs and a living but have not yet been successful. There are no restraints on the practice of analysis in England and our English group has given us a very cordial reception.2
I was glad to hear that all of you are well and send my kind regards to you and your family.
Yours,
Freud
