My precious darling
Well, something is happening at last! Today I got the invitation for the oral exam which I am to take on Saturday the thirteenth before the board of professors. A mock exam, I think; nothing more. But the things that go with it! Top hat and gloves to be bought, and then what kind of coat am I to wear? I have to appear in a dress coat-am I to hire it or have it made? I have just been to see Tischer and ordered a frock coat, but I am not at all sure whether to stick to the order, for in that case I would have to hire a dress coat for the oral and for the trial lecture, but I also need a black coat as well; in fact I need both. How on earth is this to be solved? I am absolutely bewildered, and when I think of all the debts!
My leave has been granted, I have borrowed a traveling bag from Paneth and I have just had a letter from Obersteiner telling me that I cannot sleep there1 till Thursday. This will facilitate the move, as I can take my things over there in several stages. I am taking books and brain slides along.
