My sweet darling
If I ever have to leave Wandsbek again without you, I will certainly let you see me off at the station. I very nearly turned
about at Schadendorf and came back to spend another night, but I felt a little ashamed, for up to now we really have managed to be pretty sensible at our partings. But this was a very difficult one for me, my darling; and you too, my treasure, shed some tears, and this hurt me to see. But now I really will go ahead, as you suggest, so that you may be spared many more partings and a long period of waiting.
And here I am again in Berlin and we are already as far apart as if I were in Vienna. A new era is beginning, a good one I hope, one that will bring good things. My sweet treasure, I just can't imagine what it will be like when I don't have to leave you any more, and yet I know that I won't be in the least surprised and will feel as if we had always been together.
This time no letter had arrived before me; the journey was very pleasant; I slept nearly the whole night under cover of my knitted rug. I am not in the least tired and am just off to the Café Bauer. Don't forget, my little Princess, that you have promised me to keep well and write again soon. I too have more time again now that the translation has come to an end.
With lots and lots of kisses, for which a new account begins today.
Your
Sigmund
Fond greetings to Mama and Minna.
