Vienna IX, Berggasse 19
July 7, 1908
My dear Anna
Indeed, if I weren't already very impatient to get to the Dietfeldhof,1 your letter would make me so. I also liked it very much when I was there for the first time in April, when white snow still lay between the clumps of yellow primroses. Strawberries and mushrooms2 are a very welcome prospect; we are bound to discover
some lovely walks in no time. Perhaps we can rent the Aschauer pond for ourselves alone, so that there will be room for us all to bathe.
Your brother Martin is very proud of having passed his exam3 so well and will soon appear in your midst with a new traveling bag and velour hat. Lampl4 will be coming with him, but they will soon start off on their great holiday trip with which they intend to celebrate their independence. As for us, we will read and write and wander about in the woods; if only the Almighty doesn't spoil the summer for us by making it rain all the time, it can be very beautiful.
My greetings to all your brothers and sisters; before you have reread this letter several times, we will be there, too-the morning of July 16.
Love from your
Papa
