Rome
September 25, 1912
My dearest
Just received the letter announcing the return of our young gentlemen and the requests of two patients. Frau Dr. M. is looking for a reliable nursemaid in Vienna. Perhaps you can help her.
Yesterday Ferenczi went to Naples; he is returning on Friday morning and will then accompany me as far as Udine. I am enjoying a delicious, somewhat melancholy solitude, walk a lot in the heavenly weather, on the Palatine among the ruins, in the Villa Borghese, an enormous park but quite Roman, and every day I pay a visit to Moses in S. Pietro in Vincoli, on whom I may perhaps write a few words.1 Feeling completely well and sleeping soundly, I am at last looking forward to coming home and to work.
Today I made a few little purchases, I hope to everyone's satisfaction. In this respect Rome is even more dangerous than Munich. I sport a gardenia every day and act the rich man who lives only for his whims. Life will be serious soon enough. In any case it was wonderful while it lasted.
I hope to find you all in good health and send you my best greetings.
Papa
