Vienna IX, Berggasse 19
November 28, 1912
My dear Anna
I haven't been able to write to you before because since your departure, which already seems ages ago, life here has been hectic; and the Sunday in Munich1-with the night journeys before
and after, conversations in between lasting from 9 A.M. till 11:40 P.M.-wasn't exactly a rest cure. In any case I know the ladies of the house keep you regularly informed about anything worth hearing. Today's letter, however, is meant as a birthday congratulation. As you know, I am always premature on such happy occasions. Today I gave Heller2 an order which I trust will arrive in time and be what you want. Your monthly allowance will reach you in your new home via the post office savings bank.
I have no doubt at all that you will put on more weight and feel better once you have grown accustomed to idleness and the sunshine. You might as well abandon the knitting until after the wedding;3 it probably isn't very good for your back. Otherwise keep well and enjoy all that is offered you by the winter in Meran and the care of your sister-in-law,4 Frau Marie.
I don't think I shall be going away for Christmas; as a matter of fact I am expecting Dr. Abraham to visit me here. As you know, I am no longer master of my free time, a condition, however, that I quite enjoy.
I don't think you have seen my room since it was refurnished, or have you? It has turned out very well. Before you return for good we will do your room too; writing table and carpet are in any case assured.
I send you fond greetings, wish you everything good for your seventeenth (hard to believe that I too was once so young!) and please give my kind regards to Frau Marie and Edith.

Papa
