Dear Mother
Everyone you ask will confirm the news that on the fourth and eleventh of this month I underwent an operation on the upper jaw which, owing to the skill of the surgeon and the excellence of the nursing, has been very successful so far. It will take me some time to grow accustomed to a partial denture that I have to wear. So don't be surprised if you do not see me for a while and I hope you will be in good spirits when we meet again.
