Vienna IX, Berggasse 19
May 11, 1924
Dear Stefan Zweig
On reading in the paper that Romain Rolland is in Vienna I immediately felt the desire to make the personal acquaintance of the man I have revered from afar. But I did not know how to approach him. I was all the more pleased to hear from you that he wants to visit me, and I hasten to submit to you my suggestions. My day allows me to be free from two to four, so I could receive you both during this time from Tuesday on, provided I know in advance. But it would suit me even better if you both would give me the pleasure of taking a cup of tea at nine (after supper) with my family. No one will be here except the women of my household. A visit at this hour would be possible on Monday.
I am very sorry to hear that Rolland himself has to be careful of his health. I am counting on your presence all the more as during the past six months my speech has been seriously affected;
