My dear Mr. Zweig
I read your little comedy1 just before I took to my bed for a week (with a temperature). I am far from ascribing my illness to its influence. But perhaps the former was already in me and has colored my opinion of the comedy. For it was not to my taste; above all I didn't find it at all funny and as a result of the differences between north- and south-German I had difficulties in finding my way through the dialogue. I trust you won't take my criticism amiss; at least you will know that next time I praise passionately something you have sent me, it will be seriously meant.
I hope that my wishes for you and your wife's health will reach you at a more propitious moment than was granted to your wish.
Cordially

Freud
