Dear Professor Freud,
I really ought to leave you in peace just now at the beginning of your holiday, but I do have to reply to some points in your letter. My brief reference to Zurich in my last letter was not meant to refer to my personal disagreement with Jung, but to the whole present attitude adopted in Zurich. To deal with the former first: I have not the slightest wish for an estrangement from Zurich. My letter to Jung was as accommodating as possible (I could send you a copy). Not to reply is really rather rude. But should harmony be re-established, now or later, either through your mediation or in some other way, I for my part will certainly not be the sulky one! On the contrary, I should like to keep in touch with the Burghölzli. Even though a number of unpleasant things happened before I left, I brought so many agreeable memories away with me that I certainly do not wish to disturb the peace.
