Dear Colleague,
Having arrived here this morning from Lake Garda,1 I am writing to you at once in spite of the fatigue of the journey, as I found an inquiry from you waiting for me and owe you some amends.
First about business matters. I could not write to you from Zurich; I was never alone until late at night; we spent up to eight hours a day walking and talking. So let me recapitulate: the first half-volume [of the Jahrbuch] is to include, apart from my paper, Binswanger's analysis, and your review, only a number of short reviews. Opponents' works are to be dealt with separately and dismissed briefly. You will hear directly about whatever you wish. I think it unnecessary for you to send your review to me, unless you especially wish to do so because of some point or other. That can also be done at proof stage.
Now to the main thing! That is highly welcome to me, and I hope it will please you also. It will come to nothing with Bl., his breaking away is imminent, the relations between Bl. and J. are strained to breaking-point. It was a great satisfaction to me that Jung did not make it difficult for me to prepare the ground for the reconciliation with you that I wish to bring about. His high regard for your scientific work was of great assistance here. He spoke only in hints, but I was able to conclude that he is sorry if you have ideas about him that do not correspond to reality, and the reasons for which came from another quarter. I do not want to stand between you, but I hope that in direct communication with each other you will soon find it pos
