Dear Friend,
Just a brief official note that I am no longer editor of the and that Stekel is going his own way. (I am so glad about it; you cannot know what I have suffered under the obligation to defend him against the whole world. He is an unbearable person.) The occasion for the split was not a scientific one, but a presumption on his part against another member of the Society whom he wished to exclude from the reviews in “his paper”, which I could not permit.1
I of course have in mind starting a new journal to take the place of the , and ask you to withdraw your name from the latter and no longer to direct the papers from your group to it. In the next few days a circular letter will ask you to take these steps and to cooperate with the new organ. I was about to offer you the editorship of the latter and let myself be deflected only by the consideration that luckily your practice already keeps you busy to the point of excess. I have therefore turned to Ferenczi, but should much like to hear your views on this proposal.
