Dear Friend,
Jelgersma really seems to be an event. I had already received his pamphlet and the copy of the newspaper through Renterghem before
your letter arrived. The following day I received a letter from him that corroborated all your information and was really very kind. So here is an official psychiatrist who swallows Ψα hook, line, and sinker! The things one experiences!
I shall send you his letter as soon as I have it back from Ferenczi and it has been read to the Wednesday meeting. Heller intends writing to him and arranging a German edition. I do not think it is anything for the , as it does not go one word beyond the Interpretation of Dreams. The “Contributions to the History of the Ψα Movement” were finished, in draft, an hour ago. They are now going to Budapest, from where they will be sent to you as my first contribution to the Jahrbuch. It was hard work. I have nothing to say to you about it but the celebrated words: Coraggio, Casimiro! If you have any comments or amendments to suggest, I promise to be very grateful for them. Ferenczi will be doing the same.
Our summer plans are still entirely amorphous. We are no longer a family, only three old people. Even my little daughter wants to go to England by herself this year, as your dear wife still recalls. What sort of revolution the expected guest1 in Hamburg will bring about is also still unknown. So we may show ourselves really in an anaclitic mood, but we will put off planning until the last moment. The elevation in South Tyrol makes it impossible for my sister-in-law; it is still possible that my wife and I may go there for part of the time (Madonna di Campiglio?).
If you could do something for poor Reik, who is not getting anywhere here, it would be a very fine thing. He has obvious faults, but he is a good modest boy of great devotion and strong conviction, and he can write well.2
With cordial greetings to you and yours,
your faithfully devoted
