Dear Professor,
These hasty words will not serve as an answer to your letter of Sunday; they are only to draw your attention to a point in your history of the Ψα movement.
On the paragraph beginning “Just as Adler's investigation …” on proof 63, or rather on proof 61 (first indication of the defection of Zurich),1
it can be commented from a historical point of view: The articles you mention by Riklin in the popular press appeared after the attack on Ψα in the Zurich daily press. At that time (end of 1911 or 1912) the “Keplerbund”, induced by the ethics specialist Foerster, organized a public assembly against Ψα, in which a doctor made a fiery speech. The reviews in the daily press were followed by a bitter feud, in which Jung took part, and in which, Forel, among others, intervened. That lasted for weeks. Then, when things were somewhat calmer, Jung began his retreat, i.e. those articles by Riklin appeared.2
Of course I do not want to say anything about whether this event should be mentioned. But perhaps it may seem not unimportant to you.—I have read the whole work once more with the greatest of satisfaction; I hope the printing errors which distort the sense will all disappear.
I received from Riklin material for the Korrespondenzblatt. I am writing to Rank about it, to make the burden of correspondence lighter for you. Hearty congratulations on your recovery!
Yours,
Karl Abraham
