Dear Friend,
Where are you and what are you thinking of doing? Did you expect your rest re bene gesta1 to be like this? Can you perhaps tell me whether in a fortnight's time we shall be thinking half ashamedly of the excitement of these days, or whether we are close to the decision of destinies that has been threatening us for decades? Do you know whether we shall be able to meet at an intimate Congress this year?
No one knows all this, and the abundance of uncorroborated news, the ebb and flow of hope and fright, is bound to disturb the emotional balance of each of us.
