Vienna IX, Berggasse 19
3 February 1920
Dear Friend,
I am not yet very well able to write, but I shall not delay any longer thanking you, your wife, and all the members of your local group for your heartfelt telegram of condolence. My wife, who is very shaken, appreciated all these signs of sympathy.
Meanwhile our work goes ahead under ever-increasing difficulties. We are now threatened with a paper shortage. You will soon be receiving a circular letter concerning reviewing the literature in which apologies will be made to you because of the setting up of a central editorial office in Vienna. The post between Vienna and Berlin is so bad at present that we were forced to decide on this simplification. I hope that you will be left with enough to do.
How are the prospects for the professorship?
With cordial greetings,
Yours,
Freud
