Dear Friend,
Must I then play the part of the pampered old man to whom everybody brings a fine present for his birthday (6th inst.)? Eitingon the magnificent American donation for the Fund,1 and you the wonderful news of the imminent adoption of Ψα at the University of Berlin. If only the second gift were as assured as the first! I am impatient to answer the Ministry's enquiry. Can you not press the privy councillors there to write to me at last?
You already know enough about my family now; and you will see some of its members before I do. The fact that you like my new daughter agrees with everything I have heard about her up to now. I myself am not coming to the wedding; my daughter Anna is leaving here on the 17th inst. so as to arrive in time.
All that is fixed about the summer is Gastein until the middle of August. Then a gap until the Congress, which this time we wish to arrange comfortably.
In Gastein I want to compose my intention on mass psychology2 into a short book. With nine hours of analysis that is impossible.
With cordial greetings to you and your dear wife,
Yours,
Freud
