Vienna, Berggasse 191
8 December 1924
Dear Friend,
On 15 December the two Viennese members will enter the correspondence with the first circular letter and will give their opinion on various questions.
My dark memory with regard to the subject of the lamb and its mother's milk cannot refer to you. I have the impression that this dietary ban was pointed out by someone else too, to whom I mentioned
my idea. It may have been Rank. In any case, your memory is not at fault.
The problem of the seven still arouses a lively interest in me. I have not got any further with it either, and not got any closer to the opinion at which you hinted.
Finally, your last theme, the assumed vaginal share in the early infantile blossoming of the libido, interests me greatly. I do not know anything about it. As I will altogether gladly admit, the female side of the problem is extraordinarily dark to me. If your ideas and observations already permit communication, I should very much like to hear about them, but I can wait. According to my prejudice, the vaginal share would more be likely to be replaced by anal expressions. The vagina, as we know, is a later acquisition through separation from the cloaca.
With cordial greetings to you and your family,
Yours,
