In its more than 60-year history, Psyche - Zeitschrift für Psychoanalyse, the only German-language monthly journal for psychoanalysis, reflects a unique picture not only of German-language psychoanalysis after the Second World War; it has helped shape central shifts in the development of psychoanalytic theory and practice.
The journal aims to represent the current state of psychoanalysis, its research, theory development, methodology and treatment techniques, and to present and discuss the various currents in psychoanalysis today. In accordance with the growing demands on contemporary psychoanalysis, questions of the clinic in the broadest sense are increasingly taken into account. Irrespective of the differentiation of psychoanalysis, Psyche is and remains a forum that gives a hearing to those attempts that help to penetrate cultural, social and political developments with psychoanalytic means: this includes interpretations of works of fine art, literature, music and film as well as topics of modern history (including the history of psychoanalysis), social politics (migration), sociology, ethnology and gender studies.
